Shapovalov climbs to career-best 20th in world tennis rankings

Canadian teen Denis Shapovalov has cracked the highest 20 of the ATP Tour rankings for the primary time.

The 19-year-old from Richmond Hill, Ont., jumped to a career-best 20th from 23rd on Monday after reaching the semifinals of the Miami Open final week.

Fellow Canadian teen Felix Auger-Aliassime made a good larger leap. The 18-year-old from Montreal improved 24 spots to No. 33 after additionally making it to the semifinals in Miami.

Milos Raonic of Thornhill, Ont., stays the highest Canadian at No. 15, down one from the earlier rankings.

Serbia’s Novak Djokovic stored his No. 1 spot. He is adopted by Rafael Nadal of Spain, Alexander Zverev of Germany, Miami winner Roger Federer of Switzerland and Dominic Thiem of Austria.

On the ladies’s aspect, Bianca Andreescu improved one spot to No. 23 within the WTA Tour rankings.

The 18-year-old from Mississauga, Ont., reached the fourth spherical in Miami.

Japan’s Naomi Osaka stays No. 1. The highest 5 is rounded out so as by Simona Halep of Romania, the Czech Republic’s Petra Kvitova and Karolina Pliskova and Germany’s Angelique Kerber.
